The House System at Our Holy Redeemer is a long-standing and valued tradition that fosters community spirit, teamwork, and a strong sense of belonging among all students. Each student and staff member is assigned to one of four Houses, named in honour of distinguished Australian Olympians.
-
Clarke (Red) – named after distance runner Ron Clarke
-
Fraser (Blue) – named after swimming champion Dawn Fraser
-
Jackson (Yellow) – named after Olympic sprinter Marjorie Jackson-Nelson
-
Perkins (Green) – named after Olympic swimmer Kieren Perkins
Throughout the year, these four Houses compete for the prestigious House Shield, awarded annually to the House that accumulates the highest number of points.
House points are earned through a variety of avenues that recognise both academic and personal excellence. Each week, students are acknowledged for positive behaviour and commitment to the school’s values through the “Gotcha” card system.
In addition to weekly achievements, major inter-house events provide opportunities for students to demonstrate effort, skill, and teamwork. Whole-school competitions include Athletics Day and Cross Country, while Swimming is contested by students in Years 3–6, and Debating by students in Years 5–6. At the conclusion of the school year, the points are tallied, and the House with the highest total is awarded the House Shield — a recognition of collective effort, sportsmanship, and pride in the spirit of Our Holy Redeemer School.
