Social & Emotional Learning

At Our Holy Redeemer, wellbeing is at the heart of all we do. We focus on nurturing the wellbeing of our entire school community, creating a safe, supportive, and connected environment for all. This preventative approach helps foster strong relationships and a sense of belonging.  We support positive communication between families and teachers through agreed protocols outlined in the Parent/Guardian/Carer Code of Conduct and the OHR email policy.

We have a whole school approach to Social and Emotional Learning using two main resources, The Berry Street Education Model is designed to support the development of student’s physical, psychological, social and emotional capacities.  The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program supports teachers to design developmentally appropriate weekly lessons in Social Emotional Learning. Our focus is on the whole child and we aim to give students the building blocks to lead a flourishing, fulfilling life.

We have a dedicated Student Wellbeing Team led by our Student Wellbeing Leader and the Pastoral Care Leader.

Learning Diversity

Our Learning Diversity Leader co-ordinates the provision of multi-tiered systems of support for students. This can take many forms, depending on the specific needs of each child. The reason/s why a student might require additional support can fall under four broad terms: sensory, cognitive, social–emotional and physical.

Some of the supports Our Holy Redeemer provide include:

  • Learning Support Officers (LSOs) in the classroom or working with small withdrawal groups.

  • Literacy & Numeracy Intervention

  • Individual Learning Plans to support learning adjustments for students with specific needs.

  • Regular Program Support Group (PSG) Meetings with parents, teacher/s, LSOs, Learning Diversity Leader and other relevant individuals to review and plan for necessary adjustments for students with individual needs.
