Catholic schools nurture students’ faith and guide them to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, celebration, and growing knowledge of the Scriptures and Catholic Tradition. This faith is lived out in action — working for peace, justice, and the common good.
At Our Holy Redeemer, we strive to enhance our Catholic identity so that God’s presence is evident in every aspect of school life. We do this by integrating faith, life, and culture, inviting students to discover God’s presence in their daily experiences, and engaging them in dialogue between their lives and Catholic teaching. In doing so, students come to better understand themselves and their world in the light of the Gospel, empowered to take responsibility for their choices and contribute to a just society.
We aim to build a community of faith and hope, inspired by the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit, working together for the good of every member of our school community.

Religious Education Program
Our Religious Education Program connects school, parish, and family life within a context of faith. Each year level follows a framework of learning that outlines the key dimensions of religious knowledge, practices, and beliefs. We use To Know, Worship and Love, the Religious Education text used across Catholic schools in Melbourne, which deepens students’ awareness of God’s presence through prayer, liturgy, and Gospel stories.
Liturgy and Prayer
Prayer and liturgy are central to our school life:
-
Whole-school Masses are held to start and end each Term as well as throughout the year for significant feast days and events in the liturgical calendar.
-
Lent and Advent are marked with whole-school prayer and liturgy.
-
Each week, a class leads our school assembly in prayer.
-
Prayer begins every school day in the classroom.

Sacraments
We actively support the parish sacramental program:
-
Year 4 – Sacrament of Reconciliation and Sacrament of First Eucharist
-
Year 6 – Sacrament of Confirmation
Preparation includes Family Faith Nights, Commitment Masses, and retreat days where students engage in activities that deepen their understanding of each sacrament and its place in their faith journey.

Social Justice
Living the Gospel means serving others. Our school provides opportunities for students to take action for justice and stand in solidarity with those in need. This includes awareness-building activities and fundraising in support of organisations such as Caritas Australia, the St Vincent de Paul Society, and Catholic Mission.
Each year, our Year 6 RE Student Leaders and their team of Year 5’s take the lead in raising awareness of social justice issues, inspiring the school community to work towards positive change and humanitarian outcomes.
